Jessica Zhong

Jessica Zhong is a graduate student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a member of the Arcila-Betancur Lab. She studies great white sharks by analyzing environmental DNA — genetic traces these sharks leave behind in ocean water — allowing her to better understand their behavior while minimizing disturbance to their natural habitat.

Dovi Kacev

Dovi Kacev is a shark researcher and teaching professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His research delves into the fascinating and mysterious world of sharks and rays, focusing on their habitats, behaviors and movement patterns. Driven by a lifelong passion, Dovi is dedicated to uncovering the secrets of shark and ray ecology to deepen our understanding and support conservation and sustainability efforts.
