Are you a student in high school or college looking for an exciting and engaging internship this summer? Then one of our two different Birch Aquarium Internships might be the fit for you.
Interns help visitors from around the world discover the wonders of the ocean and help shape children’s views of ocean conservation, all while gaining a behind the scenes look at Birch Aquarium and Scripps Institution of Oceanography. All internships are unpaid and housing cannot be provided.
InterpreTEENS: High Schoolers
Are you a high school student, or recent graduate, looking for invaluable experience, professional connections and unique opportunities? Birch Aquarium is committed to exposing the next generation of ocean conservationists to diverse careers within the field of marine science. We are seeking enthusiastic teens who are interested in science, have excellent communication skills and who are reliable, flexible and eager to learn. As an InterpreTEEN, you will increase visitor awareness of local and global conservation topics, while encouraging a sense of stewardship and connection to the natural world. You will be interacting with visitors of all ages on a regular basis.
Summer Learning Adventures Informal Educator Internship: College Students
As an Informal Educator in our Summer Learning Adventures program, you will guide children ages 4-15 to explore the wonders of marine science during classroom and field programs. Working with Birch Aquarium instructors, you will gain valuable experience in pre-K through eighth grade education as it occurs in an informal science setting. We are looking for motivated high school and college students who have good communication skills, basic knowledge of biology or marine science, and enjoy working with children ages 4-15. Punctual, reliable and flexible people who can volunteer to work as part of a team, take initiative and work outdoors are invited to apply.
