Marine Science Club Policies and FAQs

Marine Science Club Policies

Club Participant Age Policy

This club program series is intended specifically for children ages 8–10. To ensure that club participants have the best experience possible, please only register your child if they are within the appropriate age group.

Cancellation Policy

Club programs are refundable until four (4) days prior to the start of the program, less a $5 cancellation fee. There will be no refunds within two (2) days of the start of the program.

Should a program have insufficient enrollment, it will be cancelled two (2) days prior to the scheduled start date. In this event, a full refund will be made.

Club Forms and Waivers

We use CampDoc™ to securely collect all electronic waivers and health history records. Within two weeks of registering for a club session, you will receive an email notification from CampDoc™ with instructions on how to log into their site and complete the required forms for the participating child. Providing club participant health history information may only be completed by the parent or legal guardian of the child.

Forms must be completed at least one (1) day before the start date of the registered club program, but we recommend completing the forms as soon as you receive the email. Allow at least 30 minutes to complete the forms. Children with incomplete CampDoc™ accounts cannot participate in the club.

Immunization Policy

All participants must be fully immunized to participate in club programs (Polio, DTaP, Hep B, MMR, and Varicella).

The COVID-19 vaccination is the only immunization that is not currently required. If the participant has not been vaccinated against COVID-19, you will need to upload a “Declination of COVID-19 Vaccination” form. A link to the form will be available through CampDoc™.

Marine Science Club FAQs

What activities will be in the club sessions?

What should participants bring with them?

Participants should bring a water bottle and a hat/sunscreen for outdoor activities. Closed-toed shoes are required in order to access behind-the-scenes locations.

Can parents/guardians join their child in the club?

We strive to maintain a fun, safe, age-appropriate setting for participants to play and interact with their peers. To preserve this setting, only club participants and club staff are allowed in the classrooms during the club sessions.

The Marine Science Club is led by Birch Aquarium’s Education Team. Each session will have two staff members present, with at least one certified in CPR and First Aid.

Club registration includes aquarium admission for the registered participant only. Guests who are not part of the club must purchase separate tickets if they wish to visit the aquarium before or after the program.

When/where will the Marine Science Club sessions take place?

The Marine Science Club will meet at Birch Aquarium on October 4, 11, 18 and November 1 and 15. The session on November 22 will be held at Scripps Pier.  Directions to both locations will be included in your confirmation materials.
