Snorkel 101   Marine Biologist for a Week   Ocean Adventures Camp 

Immunization Requirements

All campers must be fully immunized to participate in camp. A statement from the custodial parent/guardian attesting that all immunizations required for school are up to date, including the date (month/year) for last tetanus shot, is required. This record can be obtained from your child’s school or physician and attached to the Health History form. We require a current health history every camp season.

Snorkel 101

  • Locations: Mission Point, Scripps Beach, La Jolla Cove
  • Time: 9 a.m.-Noon (Monday-Friday)
  • Camp Capacity: 15 campers per session
  • Intermediate swimming ability required

Have you ever seen an octopus, touched a brittle star, or taken a swim with a fish? Explore local marine habitats and enjoy live animal encounters as you take the plunge this summer with our experienced staff to learn the fun and easy sport of snorkeling. Visit the calm waters of Mission Bay, La Jolla Cove, and the sandy bottom of La Jolla Shores. Participants must provide their own snorkel gear and transportation to and from each day’s location.

Marine Biologist for a Week 

  • Locations: Birch Aquarium, Scripps Institution of Oceanography
  • Time: 1-4 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
  • Camp Capacity: 20 campers per session
  • Camp does not include aquatic sports

Join aquarium professionals as you discover what it takes to provide a safe and healthy home for marine animals. Get a peek behind-the-scenes at Birch Aquarium as you explore organisms and their habitats to develop your marine biology skills.

Ocean Adventures Camp

  • Locations: Mission Point, Scripps Beach, La Jolla Shores
  • Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
  • Camp Capacity: 15 campers per session
  • Intermediate swimming ability required

Learn to surf, snorkel, and practice hands-on oceanography in this popular camp.  Experienced instructors will teach basic surfing, boogie-boarding, and snorkeling skills, while introducing campers to related marine science topics such as waves, rip currents, and near-shore marine life. Campers must provide their own lunches, snorkel equipment, and transportation to and from each day's location.
