Explore Where the Sea Meets the Land
Visit a local tide pool to learn how these amazing habitats and their inhabitants truly survive between a rock and a hard place.
The optimal season for tidepooling is December - March when minus tides reveal wider beaches and tide pools teeming with life. During those months, you can sign up for a Tidepooling Adventure where our trained naturalists will show you how to tread lightly during your visit and help you discover the wonderful world of tide pools.
For ages 2+ (tickets required). Under 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult.
Tidepooling Adventures do not meet at Birch Aquarium.
Birch Aquarium Members: $15
A Note on Tide Pool Accessibility
The tide pools are marine protected environments; as such, parts of the Tidepooling Adventures experience will require physical ability to navigate slopes without a rail, descend and ascend a flight of stairs (False Point location), walk on sand covered beach, and safely navigate rocky terrain that may be slippery, loose and/or sharp. Guests should expect to stand and walk for up to an hour. To achieve the full experience, guests will need to be able to bend and/or squat to look into the rock pools. For accommodation requests, please contact our Tidepooling Adventures team at 858-534-7336 or email us.
