Family-Friendly Coastal Cleanup Day at La Jolla Shores

Birch Aquarium at Scripps will make our third California Coastal Cleanup Day at La Jolla Shores the best, most family-friendly event yet by joining forces with our friends at The New Children’s Museum. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. – noon.

At the La Jolla Shores site, Birch Aquarium staff and volunteers will be on hand to cleanup and answer questions about our marine environment. The New Children’s Museum will lead a hands-on activity based on their exhibit, TRASH.

Taking care of our beaches has always been a family activity. Last year dozens of families helped clean up our coastline. Look at all the trash we found! In addition to cleaning the beach, volunteers of all ages learned about plastics in ocean and participated in a Bring Your Own Decorated Bucket contest!

This year families can once again Bling Your Bucket and submit a photo to I Love A Clean San Diego for their 2012 contest.
