Behind the Scenes: Summer Camp Instructor Training

Enjoy the photo gallery above to take an inside look at what happens during training week for our Summer Learning Adventure Camps.

Summer’s arrival harkens the  start of Summer Learning Adventure Camp! These weeklong day camps are for youngsters between the ages of four and fifteen. From animal care and art, to science, snorkeling, and surfing, if it has to do with the ocean, you can find it at Summer Learning Adventure Camps.

These camps are a blast and there is a dedicated team of educators and interns behind each and every minute of fun at camp. This is where training week comes in to ensure the team is prepared to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience possible for our campers. The week includes conversations about camp and what to expect and experiences to better understand the perspective of campers as they enjoy camp activities. Training days are hosted at Birch Aquarium and off site at Mission Point, La Jolla Cove, and Scripps Beach.

Training week is a balanced mix of team building exercises, logistics, learning theory and practice, and experience of camp activities. Instructors and interns finish the week fully prepared to offer top-notch camps.
