Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego is one of the largest, oldest, and most important centers for global science research and graduate student training in the world. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the public exploration center for Scripps, dedicated to promoting ocean science education, interpreting Scripps research, and promoting ocean conservation. Join: Scripps Oceanographic Society Membership

Scripps Oceanographic Society (SOS) is the membership organization of Birch Aquarium and Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. With a variety of levels from family to individual, membership provides many benefits including free aquarium admission and more. More information.

Adopt-A-Fish

By adopting a fish, you too can be part of the team that provides essential care to these special ocean inhabitants. Adoption prices range from $50 to $1000, and gift and group adoptions are available. More information.

Join our Galaxy of Sea Stars

Have your star permanently mounted in the Entrance Courtyard of the Birch Aquarium at Scripps. This is the perfect way to honor someone important to you, commemorate a special date, memorialize a loved one, or celebrate an achievement. More information.

Sponsor a Tank or other Commemorative Display

Join Ellen's Circle

Ellen's Circle is a group of donors committed to building an endowment for the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in order to ensure its perpetual financial stability.  Each year, members make a gift of $1,000 (or $250 quarterly.)  Named for Ellen Browning Scripps in honor of her investment philanthropy that included establishing the first endowment at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Ellen's Circle honors her in the way she would want to be remembered, by continuing her good work.
