0021 So, You Want To Be An Oceanographer?

Limited to 20 participants per session
Dreaming of a career in oceanography? Our five-day program provides a fun and educational glimpse into Scripps Institution of Oceanography by visiting scientists in their labs. See what it s really like to be an oceanographer through hands-on experiments and field explorations.

FEE: Members $175; Public $195

Session B: July 28-August 1

0022 Field Biology Camp

Limited to 12 participants per session
Come explore the world of field biology and make nature your classroom in this exciting week-long camp. Travel to different locations in San Diego to kayak, snorkel, and hike, all while exploring new habitats and learning about the flora and fauna of the area. Perform experiments and find out what it takes to become a field biologist. Be prepared to get dirty and have fun! Intermediate swimming ability is required.

FEE: Members $305; Public $350

Session A: July 21-25
Session B: August 4-8

0023 Surfing into Science

Limited to 15 participants per session
Surf s up! Dive into the perfect blend of ocean sports, beach exploration, and marine science activities. Hone your surfing and oceanographic skills as you learn how beach shape and the ocean bottom play important roles in the waves we ride. Go snorkeling to observe the animals that share the waves with us.  Campers must provide their own lunches, snorkel equipment, and transportation to and from each day's location. Intermediate swimming ability is required.

0024 Underwater Robots

Limited to 15 participants
Create, launch, and take home your own submarine! Build a remote-controlled sub using inexpensive materials while learning basic concepts in hydrodynamics, simple circuits, and R.O.V. design. These new concepts will be put to the test by piloting your submarine through an obstacle course and retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool.

FEE: Members $190; Public $225 (includes supplies)
