Kelp plants grow on rocks in cool coastal
ocean waters where currents move cold nutrient-rich water
upward toward the ocean's surface.
Some types of kelps form low-growing shrubby
plants. Others, like giant kelp, grow very tall and form forests.
Only kelp plants with air bladders form forests.
