School children interacting with sharks during a Shark Survivor class
Birch Aquarium's School Programs
Registration for Birch Aquarium’s 2009-2010 School Programs begins August 17, 2009.
Dear Educators:
Birch Aquarium at Scripps is dedicated to providing interactive, inquiry-based science programming infused with current Scripps Oceanography research. Each class, from Meet & Greet the Sea for Pre-K students to Climate Challenge for grades 7 to 12, offers an opportunity for individual exploration and group learning. All programs are aligned with California State Science Standards and National Science Standards.
This year, we are excited to unveil two new education resources:
Online Registration—Soon you will be able to book your program online through our website. You are just a few clicks away from viewing our programs, scheduling your visit, and receiving your confirmation. Please check our website for more details on when online registration will open.
Homeschool Programing—In response to our homeschool audience, we have set aside December 3, 2009, exclusively for you, providing customized programming that includes free-flow, station-based learning with parent/teacher interactions. Please see our website in October for more information.
To start your year off with a splash, don’t miss our Teacher Appreciation Night on October 6, 2009. It’s an excellent time to get acquainted with our staff, select programs that are best for your needs, and learn about all the valuable resources available to you from Birch Aquarium at Scripps.
We look forward to serving you and sharing the science of our ocean and Earth.
Sincerely,

Kristin Evans
Education Manager
